It is a very ancient Pokémon whoose exact origins are unknown, but it appears to evolve from Nepheili. The circumstances of this evolution are, however, a mystery.

Physiology
Nepheleos' body is serpentine and colorful, it is mainly white with patches of blue, yellow and orange. Nepheleos has two massive wings, one on each side of his body. While most of his body is covered in scales, it has feathers on the side of its head and the end of its tail, as well as on his wings.
Abilities
Nepheleos has the ability to manipulate water flows and air currents. It uses to ability to create heavy storms and strong waves. Nepheleos usually makes use of these powers to push human thrash back to the shore.
Behavior
It is known to be a benevolent creature towards other Pokémon. Its behavior towards human is changing and inconsistent, sometimes hostile, sometimes not, depending on their actions towards Pokémons and the ocean.
Habitat
Nepheleos resides in the ocean, mostly along the north coast of Austeros.
Nepheleos was originally intended to be related to the sky rather than the ocean. It was Nereideos who had a connection to the ocean in the earliest stage of the games's development.
In early stages of development, Nepheleos was considered master of the legendary duo made of Lampadeos and Nereideos, but it was later assimilated into the group (which became therefore a trio).
Design origin
Nepheleos design is heavily based on Quetzalcoalt, a divine feathered serpent from Aztec mythology
Name Origin
Nepheleos's name is a combination of Nephele, a cloud nymph, and deos, which means gods in latin.
Nepheleos's name is intended to mean "God of the sky"
